Plot[edit]
The story continues from the previous film.
The four good-for-nothing friends Roy (Ritesh Deshmukh), Adi (Arshad Warsi), Boman (Aashish Chaudhary) and Manav (Javed Jaffrey) are still trying to con people for a living. They happen to see their old enemy Kabir (Sanjay Dutt) driving a luxurious Mercedes Benz, and try to find out the secret behind his success. Upon investigating, they find that he is living off his 'wife's' wealth.
They then blackmail him into making them his business partners, but little do the four friends know that Kabir, his girlfriend Kamini (Mallika Sherawat) along with his sister Kiya (Kangana Ranaut) have an agenda of their own. Kabir connects them with an investor named Bata Bhai (Satish Kaushik) who is also a don. The four friends convince Bata Bhai to invest his money into Kabir's oil project, and the money is then stolen by Kabir. Kabir leaves the country along with Kamini and Kiya, and leaves the four friends to deal with Bata Bhai. However, the four friends are able to leave the city and track Kabir down in Macau. They make a plan to ruin Kabir's happiness and take their money back by going in disguise. Roy 'cons' Kiya by disguising himself as 'Tukiya' and pretending to be in love with her, whilst Adi disguises himself as a Punjabi called 'Ghanta Singh', getting the job of Kabir's 'personal assistant'. Roy also disguises himself as 'Heera Bhai', a 'Gujarati investor' who would supposedly 'invest' in Kabir's casino, and Boman acts as his wife, 'in love with Kabir' to break his relationship with Kamini. Manav poses as various characters.
However, Kabir, Kamini, and Kiya find out about their plans and decide to pretend to be fooled by the four friends, playing along with their plans. However, they eventually reveal this at the end when the four friends reveal themselves, shocking and scaring the four friends, who are incensed at getting tricked by the trio again. The movie ends with them escaping from Johnny Bonzela (J. Brandon Hill) due to Kabir exposing them to him.

Reception[edit]
Critical reception[edit]
Double Dhamaal received mixed to negative reviews from critics upon release. Review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 20% rotten rating.
Top critic Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama awarded the film 4/5 stars, saying that it is 'seriously hilarious' and that 'sometimes, a good laugh is all you need to make your day. Try not to miss this one, it pledges hilarity in abundance...'[4]Nikhat Kazmi from the Times of India gave the film 3/5 stars and said 'This one's definitely not for the fastidious, choosy viewer but for those who don't mind losing it for a bit, Double Dhamaal works like an average Bollywood comedy. Performance-wise, it's one big circus with the guys hogging most of the limelight. The girls -- Mallika and Kangana -- are mere confetti.'[5] Mayank Shekhar of the Hindustan Times rated the film with 1 out of 5 stars.[6] Shakti Salgaokar of DNA gave the movie a one and half stars and wrote in his review: 'Indra Kumar's recipe for double dhamaal is quite simple — sexual innuendo, potshots at popular films, bad mimicry, foreign locations, a generous dose of overacting, an item song and a gora villain. And as he magnificently presents the climax of the film (which is funny in parts but overall ends up being a damp squib) he leaves you with a threat of a sequel. Spare us the horror, please?.'[7] Nikita Kapoor of FilmiTadka rated Double Dhamaal with 2 out of 5 stars and said - 'In the end Double Dhamaal is a completely mindless, non-sense comedy, which is a sequel to 2007 film, Dhamaal. If the first one was Dhamaal, then this one was not an iota more than half Dhamaal.'[8] Rachel Saltz of The New York Times wrote in her review: 'The director, Indra Kumar, lets his baggy tale sprawl to 2 hours and 18 minutes and peppers it with references to other, better films and with movie talk in general. 'All characters are fictitious,' someone says when the fools are caught scheming on camera, 'and bear no resemblance to people living or dead.' In this case, all you can say is amen.'[9]
Commercial reception[edit]
According to Box Office India, the film had a good opening of 60 - 70% collections. At a few multiplexes, such as, Spice Noida, E Square Pune and Wave Ludhiana, the film almost opened at a 100% response.[10] The film collected approximately ₹76.1 million net on its first day, according to Box Office India. It is the third biggest opener of the year at That time , following Ready and Yamla Pagla Deewana. The film had a strong Saturday, collecting ₹80.8 million net. The film's weekend collections amounted to ₹256.5 million net.[11] The film grossed ₹670 million worldwide.[12] It was declared a semi-hit grosser.[2]

Early life[edit]
Mayur hails from Ahmedabad, Gujarat, where he did most of his education, including an Master of Arts degree from University School of Languages and F.Y. Diploma in Dramatics from the Drama Department of Gujarat College (topped the university)[citation needed]. He spent his early years writing and directing for local theatre and television, and after 8 years of experience he moved from Ahmedabad to Mumbai in late 1999 and immediately landed a job with Sanjay Gadhvi, an Indian film director as his Chief Assistant Director. From the year 2000 he started writing screenplay and dialogues for films that he was assisting on. During his first year in Mumbai, he also wrote and acted in lead for a Gujarati play: Amastaa Amastaa (2001).
Film career[edit]
In 1999, Mayur started in the film industry, by assisting Sanjay Gadhvi. They worked on three films together, one of which was Tere Liye, where Mayur was the chief assistant director. Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai (2002) was next, and was Mayur's first as a screenwriter as well. Mere Yaar ki Shaadi Hai was made by Yash Raj Films. He next worked as an associate director on Dhoom (2004), an action film which was a departure from the production house's usual romantic and family-oriented movies.
In 2004, Mayur left Yash Raj Films and worked as an independent screenwriter and lyricist. His first film as an independent was My Name is Anthony Gonsalves, an adaptation of Julius Caesar). It released to a lukewarm response.[citation needed] His big break as a screenwriter came with Om Shanti Om. The dialogues in Om Shanti Om achieved widespread public appreciation, with phrases 'ek chukti sindoor' and 'picture abhi baaki hai mere dost' acquiring a cult status upon the release.[citation needed]
Next, Mayur was the creative director for the animation film Jumbo (2008) by Percept Picture Company, where Akshay Kumar voiced the titular character. He co-wrote Blue (2009) which was the first Indian film to be shot extensively underwater[citation needed] in the Bahamas with top technicians from Hollywood[citation needed]. However, the film failed at the box-office. Mayur then wrote the dialogues for Prince, and also had a supporting role as P.K.
In 2009, Mayur took a sabbatical from Bollywood and founded a story-telling institute for young children called Story Circus and conducted a workshop for aspiring film makers in Goa with the help of Goa University.[citation needed] While he was busy with his activities Beyond Bollywood, Mayur's next hit at the box-office came in 2011 with Remo D'Souza's directorial debut F.A.L.T.U - the screenplay and dialogues for which Mayur had written a few years back.
After one of the sessions in Story Circus, Mayur bumped into Farah Khan who had come to pick her kids. While Mayur was still off Bollywood, Farah's Tees Maar Khan had released and she was starting to script her next project Happy New Year which she offered Mayur immediately. Also, around the same time, Pritam came back to Mayur and offered him to work on the songs of I Love New Year and Race 2. By 2012 Mayur returned to full-time writing with additional dialogue and lyrics of Remo D'Souza's next musical 'ABCD: Any Body Can Dance'. For this film's songs Mayur collaborated with music director duo - Sachin-Jigar. In 2013 he wrote 26 songs as a lyricist.
Happy New Year released in 2014, the dialogues of the film written by mayur [5] were very well received. Apart from this, Mayur worked on the script of ABCD: Any Body Can Dance 2. His recent releases as a lyricist are Humshakals, Entertainment, Kick, All is Well and ABCD: Any Body Can Dance 2.
In a TV Interview with Komal Nahata[6] it was indicated that Mayur is working on his directorial debut film which will be announced soon.

Mayur also worked with A. R. Rahman on the songs 'Aaj Dil Gustakh Hai' for Blue and 'Alive' (Hindi version - Zindagi) for 'Provoked'.[8]
Mayur has collaborated with music directors Sachin–Jigar on ABCD (2013), ABCD 2 (2015) and revamped Zoom (TV channel)'s song called 'Turn On' and with Himesh Reshammiya on Kick.
