To scan slides, a separate accessory, known as the transparent materials adaptor, or TMA, is used to load slides for placement on the flatbed glass surface for scanning.

By the end of this tutorial, you should be ableto:

• connect the TMA to the scanner
  
• place TMA positioning plate on the scanner flatbed surface
• load 35 mm slide into the TMA slide holder
• power up the HP ScanJet scanner
• launch the HP Solution Center software
• perform a preview scan of the slide(s)
  
• set dimensions of the scan area(s) of the scan preview for final output
• output the scan to file

Connecting the TMA to the Scanner & Loading 35mm Slides

Connect the TMA light source plug to the outlet on the back of the scanner.

Then, the TMA plug, with the insertion arrow pointing right side up..

And, with the plug arrow facing up, insert the TMA plug firmly into the outlet.
Lift the ADF cover to reveal the flatbed glass surface:

Place the TMA positioning plate on top of the flatbed surface:

Prepare to load a side in the TMA light source slide holder:

Slip the 35 mm slide into place in the TMA slide holder.
Up to three slides can be loaded into the TMA.

Next, place the TMA light source into the positioning plate on the scanner flatbed:

Power up HP ScanJet Scanner & Launch HP Solution Center

Power up the scanner, if necessary. On the front panel, press the power button,located on the left. Mac goodsync keygen.

Launch the scanning software. From the Startmenu, select AllPrograms, then HP Solution Center.

The HP Solution Center screen will appear:

To scan slides, you need to adjust Solution Center settings.
Adjusting Scan Preferences Through Settings
Click Settings in the lower left corner of the Solution Center window:

Under Scan Settings in the Solution Center window, click Button Settings:
The Scan Button Settings window appears:

Click Scan Picture in the Solution Center window.
In the Scanning from.. window, confirm Slides to File is selected as the shortcut.
If so, click the Scan button in the lower right.
Make note of the Save Location, or click Browse.. to establish the scan file destination.
Click OK to initiate the scan.
The HP Scanning window indicates Preparing to Scan..:

The Preview scan of the slide is then displayed:

In the preview scan above, the slide area in the center of the window is automatically selected (observe the selection marquee and handles surrounding the slide area).
If there is more than one slide, multiple selections can be added, directing the software to generate individual files for each selection.
To add selections, click Add New Selection in the upper right area of the HP Scanning window, as shown above.
To complete the scan job, click Finish. The scan is performed, and progress is displayed:
